THE LEGEND OF PEKA: SLOW-COOKED MAGIC
Peka (pronounced: PEH-ka) is not a dish—it's a traditional method of slow-cooking meat (lamb, veal, or chicken) or octopus under a heavy, bell-shaped iron lid, known as peka. The food is nestled on a tray, covered with the bell, and then buried beneath glowing embers and ash for several hours.
The result is incredibly tender, juicy meat or octopus, infused with herbs, olive oil, and wine, falling apart with a fork. It’s a ceremonial, slow-food experience that represents the true culinary heritage of Dalmatia.
PEKA is served only in a few authentic konobas. You must order 3-5 hours in advance.

A stunning seafood dish cooked with cuttlefish ink, giving it a rich, black colour and intense flavour. A classic must-try in coastal taverns.
Look for freshly caught fish, often displayed before cooking. Simply seasoned and grilled over wood, this is the authentic taste of the Adriatic.
A fisherman's stew made with several types of local fish cooked in a rich tomato and wine sauce, typically served with polenta. Perfect for a chilly evening.
