Drinking coffee is the most important morning ritual on Šolta. During the season, locals gather in cafe-bars found in almost every seaside town. The inland villages are the exception, although Grohote itself boasts three such spots within just 20 meters of each other. Coffee is a widely available and affordable staple - expect to pay around €1.80 in the off-season, rising to about €2.60 in the peak of summer.
Finding a traditional pastry shop, however, is a different story. The island’s "pastry industry" effectively ends at the local bakery.
Quite often, you won't even find a croissant served with your coffee; you'll need to buy one at a nearby shop or bakery and bring it to the table yourself. It’s a local quirk you’ll want to be prepared for!
