Vela Garma Beach in Maslinica, for me, is a truly special place — a small, rocky beach, seemingly one of many, yet unique in its own right.
I think I can say that this is a ritual location for the local community. Many of the residents spent their youth on this beach, and many still visit this spot almost every day during the summer season to indulge in the ritual of an early morning dip in the Adriatic.
This aspect of the morning swim is crucial, as this place looks completely different at various times of the day.
The designated swimming area is ideal for active leisure. The crystal-clear waters and underwater seagrass meadow encourage snorkeling. Two designated spots (the pier and the former beach exit) are the best points for safe cliff/water jumping.
This magical location is completely free and publicly accessible to everyone. For the convenience of beachgoers, a complimentary shower is located near the adjacent marina.
This spot is truly unique. It guarantees unforgettable views of the Šolta Archipelago, making it one of the most popular "INSTA-SPOTS." Watching the sunset from this beach is an absolute must-do during your stay.
If you're looking for an escape from the heat, this spot is perfect. It offers excellent, natural shading from the sun, guaranteeing comfortable rest. The shoreline is rocky, but it's worth bringing a soft mat for peaceful contemplation of the Adriatic Sea.
The last boat departs at 5:00 PM, and Vela Garma Beach in Maslinica returns to its natural, calm rhythm.
Characteristics: Peace and intimacy return. The beach prepares for an extraordinary sunset spectacle.
Value: The spectacular sunset, which during the peak summer season (depending on the month) occurs around 9:00 PM. This is the ideal time for relaxation and photography.
During these hours, the beach is taken over by numerous tourists.
Characteristics: Excessive boat traffic in the Maslinica port and loss of intimacy.
Value: The least recommended time for those who value tranquility.
Value for Active Users: This is the ideal time for those who want to be near the Marina, use the restaurants/bars, and actively engage in water sports (e.g., kayaking).
These are the secret hours of the beach. Passenger boats with tourists do not arrive until after 10:00 AM.
Characteristics: The beach is empty. You will mostly encounter locals.
Value: Virgin beauty and the unique light of sunrise over the white sandy bottom of the bay. Ideal for seekers of peace.
Vela Garma Beach in Maslinica is popular, but its true charm depends on the time of day, dictated by the movement of tourist boats from Trogir and Split. Check the schedule to avoid the crowds and catch the evening magic.
FACILITIES
(LOGISTICS)
There is no public toilet directly on the beach. You can use the facilities at the nearby café in Marina Marchi, but this is only possible after making any purchase at the venue.
JELLYFISH RISK
(FIRST AID)
Depending on the season and sea currents, jellyfish may appear in the water. Remember to always have a basic first aid kit with you.
PRACTICAL TIP: We recommend carrying baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) which can be mixed with sea water to create a soothing compress for stings.
NO LIFEGUARD
(SAFETY FIRST)
Vela Garma Beach in Maslinica is unsupervised and has no lifeguard. Exercise extreme caution, especially when jumping into the water, snorkeling, or diving. Always pay attention to the safety of others.

Šolta is the Pearl of the Adriatic. We ask for your help: Take everything you brought with you – especially cigarette butts and single-use plastics. Butts pollute the water and threaten marine life! We also ask: if you see trash, please collect it. Help us leave the beach perfectly clean. Thank you!
